BERRYBROOK FARM

1257 East Blvd.
Charlotte, NC 28203
704 334 6528

Berrybrook Farm has been a landmark in Dilworth, in Charlotte, NC since 1972. Dan and Katie Jacks have owned and operated it since 1987. Personally we have shopped there since 1983. Not much has changed it has always the highest quality vitamins and whole foods we have found in Charlotte. The fitness bar serves the most delicious fresh soups, sandwiches, salads, juices, and lunch items. When you walk in and smell the aromas comming from the tiny kitchen and the friendly faces of the ones who serve you it's like walking into a friends warm and welcome home

You can take your lunch and sit on the front porch in the swings and watch Dilworthians and friends bustle about everyone going somewhere for lunch.

Recently Berrybrook started selling ALKALINE IONIZED ANTIOXIDANT WATER. After interviewing Dan and drinking the water we have discovered a whole different take on consuming water. Personally I noticed a difference right away for me it was lighter not as filling and felt so good going down. I have been drinking bottled water for years and I am convinced that the Ionized water is truly the way to go. Dan is an expert on the subject and will answer any questions you may have when you visit the store. Come in for your free gallon of water to get started. The website is www.ionways.com/berrybrook There are testimonials and detailed information on the benefits of the water and how we think it is the water wave of the future

NEW PERSONAL TRAINER IN DILWORTH
ERIN ROBERTS ,CSCS,.NSCA-CPT.

Erin Roberts, owner and personal trainer for" Bodyworks By The Park" located at 1809 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28207 phone 704 840 9953 is not only lovely and fun to be with she is highly qualified and comes to us in Dilworth with a brand new approach to personal training.

Erin's angle on how to train you to get the body and health you want is different than most trainers and instructors we have met with and interviewed. After 13 years of working with others the results are what you want to see. Erin believes in working one on one with each individual to reach your goals not hers. She seems to have this keen sense of relatedness to whoever she is with to be able to see inside and get to what you want to see and be when it comes to body and health. She is very confident and relaxing to be with opening up easy conversation about what you want to talk about when it comes to your well being. Because of her strong beliefs, spirit guides her to work with you on a sliding scale of what you can afford rather than having set rates. How great is that? Personal training has always been the best way to reach the apppearance you want for your body. It's a given, working out, all types of exercise gives us good health. But what about toning, defining, flat tummy, firm inner thighs and you know the problem areas? Is it true we work out hard and don't really change the look of our body the way we would like. Personal Training can and will get you there.

Erin's studio is amazing and has the best feeling when you walk into her intimate space. Her studio is dog and kid friendly so Moms you can bring the baby. Access to Freedom Park across the street gives you options on walking, tennis, roller blade etc. So it is not your typical training session. Erin says "always check out your trainer on the internet before committing to train" ACSM &NASM websites for more info.

A TRIP TO THE WINE COUNTRY
The Yadkin Valley North Carolina

Dilworthians and Friends what a wonderful way to spend the day driving up to the Yadkin Valley with friends and family to visit the beautiful wineries along the wine trail in the Yadkin Valley in North Carolina. Our first stop was the local grocery and deli in the Yadkin County Amish Community. Owned and operated by the Amish folk featuring local whole foods, canned products, extensive bakery goods and an array of homemade baked breads. The Amish people are talented and so very diverse in their dress and manner. They have a sweetness about them that tells a story all by itself. When we asked to take photos of a family of three inside their horse and buggy outside the store they declined but said we could take a picture of their horse.

We had lunch there and sat outside with many other visitors. One of our group did a lot of her Christmas shopping in the store while we were there. Buck Shoals Vineyard is just a short way where we stopped and sat outside on the patio porch and viewed the incredible landscape of vineyards and rolling hills. The weather was perfection and the sun shown brightly Our next stop was Laurel Grey Vinyard where we shopped in the gift shop and partook of a lovely wine tasting which all the vineyards offer when visiting. The wines were really good and we purchased a few bottles to take home. Our next stop was Raffaldini Vineyard known as "Chianti in the Carolinas" We tasted and toasted and sat out on their piazza adjoining the Tuscan style villa where they host public and private events. Every vineyard we visited was preparing for a sunset wedding it was just that kind of day. The experience was memorable. When your with lovely people in a oh so lovely part of your very own state, almost right in our own backyard, it makes you oh so glad.

SULLIVAN'S STEAKHOUSE
1928 SOUTH BOULEVARD
CHARLOTTE, NC 28203
704.335.8228

It was almost 7:00P on a week night and we hurried to Sullivan's Steakhouse so we wouldn't miss Happy Hour. We always loved going there for there special drinks and luscious appetizers. We sat at the bar and heard some lovely live jazz playing in the background and Kate the cutest bartender smiled and said "welcome to Sullivan's". We said "are we to late for Happy Hour?" She said, "you are never to late Happy Hour lasts all night." So we had several appetizers and their special drink a Knockout Martini., made with their special vodka and pineapple juice yum, yum.

The food prepared in their kitchen Executive Chef Jonathan Leary in charge we had the Salmon Salad and the Tavern Sliced Steak. They have a bar menu for Happy Hour with the most amazing items, generous portions and here is the best part, appetizers and specialty drinks are only 5.00 all night. When does it get any better than that? It has become our favorite Happy Hour spot and of course we will go back again and again. For more details google Sullivan's Steakhouse in North Carolina they have one in Charlotte and Raleigh. Hope to see you there.

CAROLINA BEACH MUSIC AWARDS
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC
ALABAMA THEATRE

WOW is the first thing that comes to mind when we attended the Beach Music Awards in North Myrtle Beach in the middle of November. All the clubs up and down Main Street in Ocean Drive participated in featuring bands, food and drink and lots of dancing. The line up for the event lasted about four full days and drew folks from as far away as Canada. If you love this music and the bands that perform and record their songs this is the ultimate in that domain. The awards were given out at the Alabama Theatre on Sunday afternoon and the after parties were back in the clubs until late into the night. Beach Music is totally has a sound of it's own and the thousands that attended the awards and participated in the events all week came from far and wide for the love of the music We had so many share with us they were not shaggers they just loved the music.

Then on our return to Charlotte the Charlotte Shag Club celebrated their Hall of Fame Awards honoring lovers of "the dance" as it used to be called in the 50's. It truly has become a splendid thing this thing they call "the shag" today. When kids were growing up here in Charlotte going to the beach and any place around Charlotte they would let us dance who would have known it would become what it is today. Lynn's dance club on South Tryon across from the Embassy Suites sponsors the Charlotte Shag Club for just about all their events, The Hall of Fame Awards was jamming. Folks came from the beach to attend and be honored, they came from all over North and South Carolina to express their history, that I am pretty sure is ours alone but gladly shared with everyone.
