TASTE OF CHARLOTTE

Dilworth was shinning in uptown’s food extravaganza, Taste of Charlotte, where local restaurants get together and offer tastes of there cuisine. “Just Fresh” our always fresh soup, salad and wraps eatery is right in the heart of Dilworth on East Boulevard next to Bank of America in the Harris Teeter shopping center. By the time we arrived it was shoulder to shoulder moving slowly past all the delectable scents of wonderful food cooking in the open air. Juliet was the first to greet us with a great smile and warm glow “Having an awesome time” she said. This was “Just Fresh” third year at the event and it was obvious she loved being there. Our next stop was Brixx Oven Fired Pizza another East Boulevard favorite. Lena served us and was having fun talking with all the people crowding around the booth. Jeff VanDyke the owner was there and came out to talk with us. What a cool guy, no wonder his restaurant stays busy and the food is always great. It takes someone really special to pull that one off. Dilworth Neighborhood Grill on East Morehead, one of our very favorite spots in Dilworth. You could tell they were really having a good time. Owner Chris Alves and Raul chef in charge were cooking up some of their signature chicken wraps, and everyone wanted some of the action. They were so friendly and outgoing it gave you an idea of what to expect when you visit their grill. By the time we went down one side of the street and up the other, of course we ate to much, and had to much fun. Just another Charlotte happening that we know will be back next year.

You never know when spending the day in Dilworth what you will find. What a wonderful surprise when we found Cluck-N-Cup right off South Boulevard. Owner Linda Mussen and Chef Joy Davies have just opened the most unique restaurant, with a sophisticated coffee shop atmosphere complete with couches and sitting area this jewel is tucked away in a corner and once inside the warm feeling you get is provided by the owners. Right away you feel at home and know anything you order will be special.. Everything they serve is made from scratch. Chef Joy’s favorite is the Asian Chicken Wrap. Her chicken salad is made fresh, white meat only, and can be purchased by the pound. Today we had homemade broccoli casserole as a side dish with BLT including drink 4.50. So yummy for so little. They serve wonderful gourmet coffee and provide free wireless internet. Local artist have some of their work on exhibit, there will be an art contest soon and you will be able to cast your vote for your favorite artist. Serving breakfast, by the way you can sit outside for breakfast one of my favorite things to do, opens at 7:00am closes at 4:00pm. A must try you’ll love it

Having been introduced to NIA in Boulder Colorado some years ago we discovered a small miracle when we found NIA right here in Dilworth. Demi (NIA White Belt Instructor) teaches NIA every Monday night right here at the Dowd YMCA. She describes NIA as follows:
