DOWD Y RUN 5K AND HALF MARATHON

Dilworthnow.com was well represented at the Dowd Y Run November 7th. There were right at 1400 people running and 150 volunteers. WOW the energy was over the top as the participants got ready and the time was getting close. It was the perfect day for a run and you could feel how excited everyone was to be there. Erin Morris the event planner in charge said “I love that this race attracts all types of runners we have first time runners and Iron Man Triathletes But what I like most is the impact it has on our community. Proceeds go to supporting the programs at the Stratford Richardson YMCA in West Charlotte, building strong kids, strong families and strong communities.” Race results can be found online at runforyourlife.com. We don’t want to miss the Y’s future events what a charge.

REMEMBERING KAI

Jaynard Kahanaoi Kai, known to us as Kai left in September to be one of God’s special angels in heaven as he was here on earth. We have been honored to know him and have had the distinct pleasure of sharing life with him especially here in Dilworth. Kai worked for Don and Ayelene Keen owners of Dilworth Coffeehouse for many years in the Coffee Shop and the Roasterie. He moved here from the Big Island of Hawaii and lived in the Dilworth community for over 20 years. He was like a son to the Keen’s and the most caring friend and neighbor to all who knew him. Dilworth Coffehouse had a celebration of Kai’s life in October the Coffehouse was filled with friends from all over Charlotte and beyond remembering how he had touched their lives with great kindness and generosity. We all miss him so much.

GALLERY CRAWL FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH IN DILWORTH

We crawled had tasty tidbits and drank delectable wine the first Friday in November. The weather was fine so we did not understand why there were not so many people out enjoying the beautiful, unique and original art showing in Dilworth’s Art Salons. We started out in South End and slowly moved down East to take in as many Galleries as possible. Next month we will take in the ones we missed. What a great opportunity to get out and mingle and get a great taste of all life has to offer in this fabulous neighborhood. Dilworthnow.com plans on a complete and detailed gallery expo in our next Newsletter so if you have a favorite artist or know of showings in the area you would like to call attention to please let us know. Just so you will know Hawkins Street Gallery 2116 Hawkins Street in South End is offering a lay away plan for your favorite piece or painting so you don’t have to pass over something you will cherish forever

DILWORTHNOW.COM LAUNCH PARTY AT ZEN RESTAURANT

In spite of the hurricane Wednesday night November 11th the turnout for our Launch was great and fun was had by one and all. Phong the owner of ZEN really outdid himself with an array of asian fusion hor’dourves the wine was flowing and so many nice people from all over were there to partake. The best part was getting to know folks from all over, other business owners in Dilworth and having the personal one on one experience. With computers doing so much of our networking we really miss out on personal contact with each other so for those of you who could not make it there will be more parties in the future. Sue Holder won the drawing for the trip to Myrtle Beach and other folks went home with some pretty cool door prizes. Thank you all for your support and making this a lovely event.
